Birds of Prey will use some images of Suicide Squad

Suicide Squad is one of those movies that some fans want to forget. However, it seems that it is not yet time to leave the criticized 2016 film directed by David Ayer completely in the past and indeed, during the next week, a reminder of the film will arrive at the cinema.

In an interview with CinemaBlend's ReelBlend podcast, the director of Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn), Cathy Yan, said that in order to perform a specific part of Harley Quinn's story in her film she had to resort to material that was filmed as part of Suicide Squad.

“We use some images of Suicide Squad, yes,” said the director. "I think we modified it a bit to fit our world."

Yan specifically told which scene the images of Suicide Squad were used for and why they didn't choose to film those moments again, but we have to warn them that some people might consider this as a small spoiler.

Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) will resume the story of the villain played by Margot Robbie and from her vision she will present to the public the fight against Black Mask that will lead alongside characters such as Cassandra Cain, Black Canary, Renee Montoya and huntress.

In that sense, Yan said the movie will use Suicide Squad material to remember how the doctor who once worked at Arkham became the unpredictable villain.

'Birds of Prey' seeks to make a difference in the superhero genre

DC is trying to make changes in superhero movies so they can evolve and reach different types of audiences, which is why the feature film starring Margot Robbie wants to innovate, 'Birds of Prey' is a movie for and made by women.

In recent years, Hollywood has been a place of movement for women's rights, who also ask for the same job opportunities in series and films, so it seems that DC has heard these requests.

So to demonstrate his commitment to this movement, he produced this film about a group of women, some are villains and others are rebels who will face a criminal leader of Gotham nicknamed Black Mask, in order to protect one of his own.

The interesting thing is that in addition to having female protagonists such as Margot Robbie, Jurnee Smollett-Bell, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Rosie Pérez and Ella Jay Basco, she has a production team made up of a majority of women.

"There are more women in front of (and) behind the camera than any movie I've worked on, which is quite incredible. It was partly a conscious decision, but it also always felt like the right and organic choice," Robbie explained in an interview for EW.

Although 'Birds of Prey' is a movie for and made by women, we must see this February 7 as it affected this change in the final result.

"Birds of Prey" is based on the comic series of the same name, where the female characters of Gotham form a team to face a new evil. Although the protagonism originally falls to Barbara Gordon, on the tape this place became Harley Quinn

The film also features Black Canary (Jurnee Smollett-Bell), Renee Montoya (Rosie Perez), Huntress (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) and Cassandra Cain (Ella Jay Basco).

“‘ Birds of Prey ’is a riot: it is full of attitude and has some of the most ingenious and crunchy fighting sequences of the superhero genre to date. I entered with few expectations and was pleasantly surprised by the fun I had. It does not reinvent the wheel, but it has style to spare ”, detailed Laura Prudom of IGN.

“I just saw‘ Birds of Prey ’and I’m pleased to report that it’s my favorite modern DC movie so far. Like Shazam, he creates his own path with a totally unique aesthetic, action and tone. Margot, Ewan and everyone else are 100% fantastic. Why aren't there more skating action scenes? ”Commented Mike Rougeau of Gamespot.
